David McMurry a painter of the outdoors searching for a better understanding of the natural world. He believes every piece should be better than the last, so the responsibility becomes greater as the consumer deserves quality work. He enjoys all the outlying areas of the Texas Panhandle and has a special interest in landscape and its various times of day, the evening being his favorite time as all the rich color falls on the land, and there is a certain peacefulness to that time. He has been an invited guest member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group, the Oil Painters of America, the Amarillo Fine Art Association, and the Moore County At Association.

He has studied with Carolyn Stallwitz, Emilio Caballero, West Texas State University, Scottsdale Art School, Jim Wilcox, Jackson Art Institute, Scott Christensen, Skip Whitcomb, Tony Eubanks, Quang Ho, Jim Morgan, Ralph Oberg, Matt Smith, and Russell Case.
